Preparing Fallen Timber for Milling

We partnered up with neighbors to take care of fallen timber from recent storms. A guy will come over with a portable mill, turn logs into boards, and then take everything off to kiln to dry for a couple of months. Our White Oak log is over 2′ in diameter and 10′ long. We have a couple more trees to pull out before the mill gets set up.

I’m not sure what our neighbors have in store, but we’ll be making a kitchen counter and bookcase out of what we have.
